Fashion Trends Spring Fever

Lilys Closet, located in Eikestad Mall, never seem to disappoint.

With the beginning of Spring comes the beginning of a whirlwind of sunny to rainy days that change within a flash. This causes confusion in what to wear. Luckily for Stellenbosch locals, a shop providing the latest trends is only a few steps away.

Lilys Closet stocked up on a variety of different skirts, long and lengthy skirts in particular. Available in several colours, these skirts are incredibly comfortable and fitted. In the look I chose, I paired a black skirt with a white lace top, a skinny light brown leather belt, a golden necklace and butternut colour boots, each garment available at Lilys Closet. This look is a description of an indie, chic and feminine style. Its a vibrant and versatile combination. Its edgy enough to be worn at the beach as well as an everyday outfit.

I've posted about the uniqueness of this stores shoes, twice by now, and I might as well say it yet again. Lilys Closet stock up on a range of different leather shoes, for men as well as women. What makes them different is that the shoes are handmade by a man who comes from the Congo. But thats not it. In the shop theres a row of each shoe design as a sample. You can choose a shoe you like, measure your feet in the shop, and all your details and things will be sent to the man, who will then make the shoes. Plus you can change the designs leather colour as you like! Youd be the only one to have a pair. So, why not?

The outfit is lovely, unique and just plain noticeable.

Fashion Trends Classic and Denim

Another shoot where the sun didnt co-operate, but the outfit worked well enough.

Plain blue ripped shorts, with a classic knotted white sleeveless tee. I paired it with my army boots from Queue, cross necklace from Sass Diva, and a rough bun with striking red lips.

This is one of my favourite outfits, supplied by Courage and Candy. Its odd how good an outfit can look without peppering it with thousands of different accessories. Here we have two plain and simple little garments that contrast each other into an overall image of a girl who doesnt have a care in the world.

I have yet ANOTHER announcement to make, directly from the stunning owner. Courage and Candy is hosting its very own sale at academia on the 2nd October. From 4 to 6 pm, youd receive a 10% discount off your purchase, plus a complimentary drink. What better way than to end off the term than with a sale, hosted by one of our favourite shops? (And if you STILL dont know where Courage and Candy is, its across from Wakaberry!) I'll put up the link to the event later on.

In the meantime, go and visit the lovely little place, its waiting with its doors wide open!

Fashion Trends Back to the old days

Tees and Shorts. Simple. Fun. Plain.

And Pretty.

Courage and Candy, located across from Wakaberry, stocked up on a variety of new and different garments. If youre looking for garments with an edgy vibe, Courage and Candy would certainly not disappoint.

A faded red-purple leopard short, and a simple loose top with a printed cross, as an everyday, simple look. Yeah, its pretty plain, but pretty fun too. The shorts are different than the usual blue jean shorts were all used too. It repeats leopard print, yet in a classy and stylish way. The geometric shirt is just as plain, but the two components together work well with one another.

The awesome owner of Courage and Candy, decided to be even cooler by announcing the following:

So Courage and Candy decided to give any person the chance to win a R500 voucher, for Courage and Candy clothing of course. Hell yeah? All you have to do is like their page on Facebook (the link is below) and write on their wall saying youre from Forever Fashion, and wait. Easy! Theyve stocked up on incredible garments. It would be worthy of a Facebook like, and a visit of course.

Fashion Trends Old School

As a boutique, Lilys Closet, located in Eikestad Mall, supply several different garments, fitted for any event, which is why I chose this old-school beauty. A deep blue schoolgirl skirt, plain white printed tee, stunning leather shoes and a golden necklace, all wrapped together.

During winter, the whole schoolgirl skirt trend repeated in its plaits as well in outfits. A skirt similar to the normal usual heavy skirt can be worn in a similar way this spring. Since were at the season before summer, a lighter material skirt would look better, so that it doesnt, for obvious reasons, look as heavy as a skirt with this trend, normally would. Were done with winter; we dont need reminders of the icy cold season!

Ive posted about the uniqueness of this stores shoes, and I might as well say it again.

The shop provides several different shirts, tops, tees, whatever you want to call them. Each single garment is different, and hung in a colour coded formation. Quite adorable if you ask me!

If you havent been to Lilys Closet youre keeping yourself away from something different, and I mean that in a good way!

Fashion Trends Lily's Closet

 Lily's Closet

A little store most likely described as feminine, local, and stylish.
A little store with a tranquil atmosphere, and elegant, colour coded garments.
A little store, managed by two eloquent women, which is not to be missed.

As I shot the photos for Courage and Candy, I did the same for Lilys Closet. Lilys Closet, located in Eikestad Mall, is quite a dainty shop. Open from 9 to 6, Lilys Closet is filled with a variety of different types of garments as the store sells lines from different South African designers; From lace and chiffon tops, long and short skirts, cute floral shorts, to beautiful evening dresses, interesting blazers and a variety of vintage looking accessories.

They also stock up on a range of different leather shoes, for men as well as women. What makes them different is that the shoes are handmade by a guy who comes from the Congo. But thats not it. In the shop theres a row of each shoe design. You can choose a shoe you like, measure your feet in the shop, and all your details and things will be sent to the man, who will then make the shoes. Plus you can change the designs leather colour as you like! Youd be the only one to have a pair. So, why not?

The first look, completely out of Lilys Closet clothing, lingers between a semi-formal and casual look. The blue geometrical top is way more casual than the leopard print blazer, but they go together well with the skirt. I like this look. Its calm, serene yet fun, and hip. The bow, part of Dinx Designs, breaks the colour palette of blues and greys, as its a pop of bright and contrasting colours, and its just plain adorable. The shoes look quite vintage, and oh so lovely. Its yet another pair of shoes that may work for each and every season!
During the time of taking these images, our daytime was running out, so here are a few pictures.

Fashion Trends Collar Shirts

As part of the school uniform of the High School I attend, collar shirts are worn on a daily basis, five times a week. One may presume that wed be sick and tired of these shirts by now.

Well, no.

In fact, collar shirts, as a fashion trend, became part of a few of our wardrobes this year, whether its long sleeved or short, plain cut or asymmetrical, chiffon or jean. Its used for evening as well as day wear, and looks utterly brilliant.
Heres a new trend to try; how about we take these collar shirts and add a few metallic or pearl accessories? And, hey, Presto! I introduce to you, studded collar shirts.

Last week, I took my very first steps, into a fancy little store called ZARA. I dragged my family to Cape Town for my birthday, and what other place than the Waterfront? Zara recently opened in the Waterfront, and a lot of people talked about it ever since. Well, all I can say is that it topped my expectations. Its chic, modern, diverse and fashion forward. Its a huge store, and theres never not a single soul in that shop. Once youve walked into a Zara, youd understand why. The entire store consists of styles that fit each and every taste: from edgy, dynamic and grungier garments, to softer, feminine and more ethereal ones. When going on your next trip to Cape Town, be sure to give ZARA a visit.

I bought my first studded collar shirt at ZARA. Okay, my first and second one. Its quite lovely. Studded collar shirts add personality and edge to your outfit.  You can add the accessories, or studs yourself, which makes this trend a DIY, and a MUST. A cool idea for a studded collar shirt is a light blue sleeveless jean one, with golden sharp geometric studs. This would work better for day time. A chiffon long sleeved collar shirt would work better for night time, varying from silver minimal studs to pearls. It can complement your style, whatever. Just be sure to try this out.

Fashion Trends I'd wear this.

A brown mullet skirt, a black velvet body stocking, an earthy scene, and the first taste of spring.
Courage and Candy never disappoints.

Mullet skirts are incredibly trendy right now. Since its the beginning of spring, one tends to be uncertain whether to wear a short or trousers, skirts with or without stockings. Well, this may not resolve the pants problem, but in terms of skirts, a mullet skirt can work for both seasons. Since its longer at the back, and potentially shorter at the front, it combines both seasons, when in midseason. Plus, its fashionable and oh so pretty. Why not?

I have great news. Wait for it. Wait for it...

Okay! So Courage and Candys lovely manager decided to be even cooler, by giving any person the chance to win a R500 voucher, for Courage and Candy clothing of course. Hell yeah? All you have to do is like their page on Facebook (the link is below) and write on their wall saying youre from Forever Fashion, and wait. Easy! Theyve stocked up on incredible garments. It would be worthy of a Facebook like, and a visit of course. Courage and Candy is situated across from Wakaberry.

So, go for it!
