Somehow I keep on apologizing for my lack of posting.

Oohf, it's really getting old. I'll try to put all my energy into this from now on!

So, back to the seemingly stylish subject, the hair bow was something we, well I, first saw on the perfectly bleached head of Miss Gaga. Lately, the hairstyle has gained quite a demand in popularity. It is fun, quirky and out of the ordinary. If you want something different and well, new, this may just be the style for you.

It's really easy to do. Promise! It looks incredibly complicated, but after a few tutorials from YouTube (okay. maybe just one) it's pretty easy to get the hang of it.

 Do It Yourself

 Step one: Take all of your hair up into a ponytail with an elastic band. BUT on the last action of pulling your hair through the band, take your hair halfway through, thus forming a semi bun/loop on your head. The loose hairs should face your forehead.

Step two: Divide the loop/bun into two sections, creating two new loops.

Step three: Take the loose ends that may be dangling in your eyes by now, and pull it over the middle of the divided bun, thus creating a third and final loop. You should be able to secure it through the elastic band by pulling it through, easily.

Step four: Puff your two loops to give it more volume, or straighten out your middle loop if needed. Now, just pair it with a cool and fun outfit, and you will be ready to go! 

It's difficult in the beginning, plus you need to be patient if you want to succeed in this. I'm terribly impatient, but after a few tries, I got it right. If these instructions are a bit too vague or confusing, I added a DIY tutorial from the amazing blogger, Mr Kate. Little Pink Dress

Comfy, plain, stylish.

Your everyday necessity. 

This pale pink power dress is pretty much an all-rounder. It's fitted enough to suite your body, yet loose enough for comfort. 

It's short enough to show some leg, yet longer than a dress that barely covers.

The sleeves are short enough to be worn in the summer, yet long enough to be worn in the winter.

So how about a multi-purpose dress? I think yes.

Fashion Trends High Low

This garment IS the best of both worlds.

It's been seen on several looks on Lookbook.nu

I've seen it almost on every second tourist in Italy.

A skirt/dress, that's short in the front, and long at the back.

And I finally found out what it's called!

The Highlow (or something.)

Okay. So it comes in the form of a skirt or you can buy a dress with a similar bottom. I'm crazy about this. It's incredibly diverse. It fits each and every occasion, so this is definitely a SUPER must. Period. No Jokes.

It's perfect for the entire year, summer to winter and back. Pair it with tights, without tights, heels, jackets, everyday tops, hats, formal attire, anything. I'm literally over my head with this trend. I'm counting on seeing this at the end of the year in South Africa. It's stylish, classy and chic.

The Little Black Dress

This part of the shoot was actually shot the following day in Ice COLD weather. No exaggeration. Well, it's simple, sweet and fun. This dress great for a semi-formal event plus its hassle free! (I sound like one of those car sales women.) It's closely fitted the right length for a party or event and it's comfortable.

And what's always great with plain dresses, and that it's black, is that you can go all out with accessories! But you have to be smart when pairing it with its components. It's all about what type of look or mood you want to set with your outfit. Light feather earrings, a baby pink and silver bracelet and nude heels can give off an entirely different feeling than some chunky gold rings, metallic gold and blue earrings and a blue heel with golden studs or sequins. So be thoughtful and be certain of what you want to present of yourself <3

 Anyway, during the shoot, we decided to let Xanthe run around since it was so incredibly cold!

So this is what we came up with! Only available at Eva Boutique in Stellenbosch.

Fashion Trends arrivederci!

The green playsuit.

The first time I saw this, I thought it was a dress because of the light material! But as it turned out, it was actually a playsuit, which has been very popular the past year. It's fitted, but not in a trampy kind of way. It sits perfectly around the waist, and it falls gently on the hips. It's soft, sweet and dazzling in whole!

This would be perfect for a Sunday lunch, picnic in the park or even a date! It's a suited for any casual event, pairing it with footwear from sandals to wedges. 

The reason I actually chose this playsuit, and on Ashley in particular, is that she wore a similar colour dress, that almost has the same cut (except it's a dress of course...) in our magnificent school play, Bernarda Alba. She was SO good in it; the playsuit brings back the faint memory of her wonderful acting.

 I'm going on vacation for 10 days, in Italyyy :D I'll try to catch some of the local's fashion in a four sentence dialogue that I learnt from my brother's girlfriend. HAPPY HOLIDAYS xx

Fashion Trends Dress it up!

Eva Boutique is the place for you <3

Eva Boutique, conveniently across Courage and Candy, has been kind enough to lend me a few dresses for yet another shoot, with infamous, soon-to-be model, Xanthe Viljoen. We couldn't have asked for worse weather than the weather we shot in. The entire week was sunny, and on the day we shot, it started to rain. I asked Xanthe, because well, she has a natural photogenic beauty, along with Samantha Hall, a photographer with mad skills. We shot through incredibly cold rain and wind, it became exhausting.

The first dress is a plain blue dress with an amazing decorated bead back. 

Less is more? ..Back to basics? 

This little dress basically states the above phrases. (Or clauses, I do not want to get in trouble with our lovely English teacher...) Its simplicity is what makes it so unique. Sometimes, a dress with too much frills and threads and whatnot, tend to have the opposite effect than it's supposed to. You can make a statement with plain and simple as well. Plus, with its gorgeous back, it gains a bit of a chaotic emphasis towards the plain front. 

With this sort of dress, you can go wild with accessories! Choose a colour palette, like a variety of gold that can complement the deep blue colour of the dress, or a touch of silver that's repeated in the beading. Pair it with some simple heels, and voila! You've got a look :)

Oh and since it's Winter, just add a sick jacket that matches the heels, or even some stockings, and you've turned it into a Winter outfit!
