Fashion Trends Event

On the 25th of April, I managed to leave school for the day, to attend the amazing and chic Forever New Media Event. A morning of indulgence, manicures and fashion. 


I had the opportunity to attend the Forever New "media breakfast" at the V/A Waterfront. From delicious treats and snacks, to a beverage bar stocked from tea to smoothies. The store was filled with guests from all over the fashion media. We even had the chance to treat our nails for a mani, from Sorbet. Shortly, after the store became packed, the lovely miss Kerrin Tessendorf, greeted us, and introduced the new winter range. In conclusion: a mini fashion show. And to top things off, we each got a gift bag at the end incluing a Forever New purse. A morning well spent!


I, and my trusty lil ol' camera, captured as much as we could. This was an event to remember. From what I saw, a trip to Forever New would certainly do no harm. I recommend you visit your nearest Forever New, if you want to stock up a bit on Winter clothing.

Fashion Trends Moss for Mango

Mango, from Spain, recently found their new, bold and independent It-girl. Kate Moss was presented as new face for Mango Spring/Summer 2012. Kate moss posed in the brand's new designs at a house in London, whilst being shot (photographically of course!) by famous Terry Richardson. Breathtakingly amazing. She embodies the urban woman, represented by Mango through their various designs. 

This season, Mango brings in the 60s as a main influence. From abstract prints, to patchwork, to tie-dye, the new designs brings a fresher side to the table. The brand is opting for a graphic contrast between clean and unstructured lines.Lightweight and pleated fabrics, which offer movement and present a new and feminine proposal for this season. Striking, and stunning.

Mango is one of Spain's most successful fashion brands, with over 2,400 stores in 107 countries. The brand's clothing quality may be has high is the stores status and expectations.

Fashion Trends FURocious

I've disgusted the thought of wearing fur since I can remember, yet that was only due to the cause of animal cruelty. Fake ( Faux) fur, is making its statement this Fall, and it's striking. It's just the right relationship of elegance and dare. If you want to make a statement, I guess wearing (fake) fur would grab attention at first hand. That is, of course, if you want to be a showstopper. 


For those who have the will to try this trend:
Look at signature pieces, and not an overall fur catastrophe, yet I have confidence no-one would dare an entire look out of fur. It started my attention when I saw it in more and more shops. Pieces such as Fur scarves, vests, coats, jackets, and even beanies! This includes shops like: Woolworths ( the clothing divisions like Country Road), Forever New, Jay Jays, and quite a few more.

It's perfect for Fall and Winter, plus it gives great warmth. It isn't a trend that's been seen currently, but hey, time will only tell if it has the success in South Africa that it has in America or France (Streetwise of course).

The collection adds to vintage footwear. It takes the classic boot, into a whole new meaning of classic. The range includes every-day, comfortable and casual boots, as well as breath-taking motorcycle boots, to sexy cowboy-boots. Be smart, and stock up beforehand on trusty, yet fashionable, boots. You do NOT want to be seen running in flip flops to the nearest shoe shop, because your boots from last year had long forgotten holes in them. A bit dramatic, maybe, but the point is, be ready for winter�s flings and moods.

Plaids, patchwork, leather and more are incorporated into the designs. Slightly industrial, yet it still holds onto the femininity of the boots. If you�re looking for ankle, high, medium or heel boots, you might as well grab your bestie, and head to NINE WEST for all your shoe needs. Everyone needs their signature bootie.
